Dominic

Ahh, the REAL surprise baby! We had no intentions of having another child, in fact, my OB assured us it would "never happen". Joey was 4 and that April, I decided to get rid of everything baby related that I owned. Even the "baby" I was babysitting had outgrown all the baby items. No need for a bed, car seat, high chair, bottles, we got rid of everything. That August, just 4 months later, I had a feeling I was pregnant. Sure enough, the same night we were talking vasectomies and tubals, I took a pregnancy test. I just had a feeling. Sure enough, I wasn't even finished peeing on the stick and that big fat plus sign was showing up. We were immediately thrilled. For some reason, before we had him, I kept telling Mr. Crafty that I just didn't feel finished having babies. Joey was 4, my mom had passed, I needed someone to take care of. I never had that feeling before.

He looks just like his Daddy. It took us 4 tries to get a baby that looked like him. He looks just like he did in my dreams when I was pregnant with him. His birth, well, that was certainly not how we had planned. He was born at 33 weeks. Just 4 hours before I had my c-section with him, I was in surgery getting my gallbladder removed. I don't remember much of the weeks before his birth. I was in the hospital on big time drugs to keep me comfortable. There was a lot of complications with my gallbladder. So, he was born 7 weeks early and weighed 5 pounds, 4 ounces and was 18.5 inches long. Our longest baby and only baby with hair! He spent 15 of the longest days of our lives in the NICU. I lost both of my parents, but let me tell you, seeing your own baby hooked up to wires, machines and tubes, it was by far the WORST thing I have ever experienced.

Dominic, or Nic as we call him, is all boy! He will be our football player, in fact, he tells us he is going to play for the Bengals and he will be called Pitt bull. Where that name came from, we have no idea, but it's hilarious! If he is going to play for the Bengals, I guess we'll be looking at one of the other 3 to take care of us in our old age. HAAAHAA!!! Nic is so shy it's not even funny, he is afraid of most people and won't talk to anyone unless he has been with them for at least 10 minutes. He is also a pretty smart kid. He will talk your ear off, if he knows you, of course, and will tell you about anything and everything he can think of.

He is, with out a doubt, my little buddy. He is our Gatlinburg souvenir. LOL!!!
